課程概述 |
Successful people communicate in English with confidence that inspires other people to listen and put their trust in them. In this course students will practice and develop the specific skills, strategies and techniques in using English which confident people use to present ideas in the most effective and professional way possible.
The semester starts with an overview of common English pronunciation and intonation habits of Taiwanese students which distract from the clear presentation of their ideas. Week by week students will learn and practice using the techniques mentioned above to present their ideas in the best possible manner in English. Students will apply this theory in practical business situations, including realistic problem solving role plays and exercises.
This course is extremely practical, using spoken English samples of EMBA students from previous years.
This course goes beyond the usual ‘how to make a presentation in English” to include topics like idea framing and listener-friendly delivery of ideas which can be used in formal presentations. Although this course does not focus on making PowerPoint presentations, some discussion of common PowerPoint presentation problems in English will be covered if students express interest in this topic.
This course is taught entirely in English. Students should be eager to use English in small group problem solving role plays as well in whole class discussions. Consistent effort (preparation for class and in-class participation) will result in a successful outcome in this class!
